NNHS hosted a ‘Best out of Waste’ competition at Brindavan Public School (Coonoor) in celebration of World Environment Day 2012. The participating children were marked based on innovation, creativity and usability of their creations. A variety of waste products from sweet wrappers to torn clothing were used. The participants showed immense innovation, combining science with creativity. Most made products they would use, emphasizing the importance of recycling. One of the students said the initiative made him look at waste differently and that it was frugal to produce or consume more when we can create things we need from that we already have. Prizes were awarded to the winners and all participants received certificates and copies of our newsletter.
