On the 22nd of December about ten participants started the trail from Taranadmund, a characteristic Toda settlement that can be accessed via the Ooty-Gudalur road. Tarannadmund is a vast wetland-grassland complex high in biodiversity. The trail began through dense wattle plantations bodering the village before opening up to pristine sholas and small watering holes. Our guide Aradakuttan explained the cultural importance of this trail to the Todas on account of the sacred groves that are found there. The trail concluded over rolling grasslands offering panoramic views of Sigur plateau.
